Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Christmas Party waste

Another big party with no expense spared. Thanks Darren but I’d rather you save the money on the party and just give every Houston campus employee $200.

Assuming $2M spend and 10,000 employees on campus.

Campus has huge party, drones, family invited. Other sites? nothing but some cheap lunch with manager. Same instructions as last year, NOT ALLOWED to pool money from various groups to do site wide celebration. But they want good morale....

$200 would be more than my raise this year!

It was a great party, my family had a blast. I came in the next day and was told I wasn't getting a raise this year which makes everything since 2020 feel flat.

So, great party, quick comedown.

The 3 month salary for your HC10 PIL equals 3 years of your BTC replacement’s salary.

Let that sink in.

No longer have 10,000 employees.

Some buildings empty.

Someone chime in and tell how many employees on campus and how many buildings abandoned.

@c8 Is there anything that anyone can post about on this site without you showing up to whine about DEI?

It was extremely tone deaf given the status of many of our coworkers fate. And the DEI bs was abysmal. DW, MC all approvers of this waste of money can all eat a curb.

Unless you have small children or are a small child, it is an annual waste of time. Show me the $$$ instead.

I would trade $200 for the Christmas party but if it’s $1,000 like the other poster said then heck yeah just give me the money.

When I get laid off or PIP'd and forced into homelessness I will just close my eyes and remember the drone show and bouncy castles.

Fun times and great event... in retrospect I should have just stayed in the Chrismas area tho, different cultures ruining my Chrismas vibe. But im a narrow minded dude, most were clearly loving the cultural fusion.

It was for employees, no doubt. To allow them to share work with families, enjoy some holiday spirit and maybe put a smile on some faces. If you say “I’d rather take $200” you’re a liar, you would complain you are insulted by it. Just a POS and likely complain about everything, nothing is ever good enough and you appreciate nothing, not even this gesture. So shut your mouth, get off your keyboard and enjoy it. Or don’t go next year and complain everything else as you probably do anyway. It was a well executed event and something the vast majority of employees enjoy and appreciate, the evidence is in the turnout. Troll.

To all the naysayers: What a bunch of humbugs. It just shows that nothing would make some of you happy.

I felt appreciated. My family felt included and thought the whole thing was impressive/cool/fun.

There are many days when this company is hard. Today was not one of those days. It was a well-executed party.

The party is way more then $2M. Try $10M. So that’s $1,000 per Houston campus employee or a 2 hour party.

Don't you know by now how cunningly smart DW is. He spent the company money to brag and show the power of his position and take the write of at the same time. If he had just given $200 to each employee it wouldn't have make him show the power of his position. After all he is the most unpaid CEOs when compared to his peers as he once said.

The CEO breed in the USA is getting worse by day and like blood su-king bed bugs.

Was it over the top? Yes! Was it ironic to celebrate regions receiving bad news this week? Absolutely! But wow, very impressive and I tip my hat to the event planners for putting on an amazing entertaining event. It wasn’t the party we deserved but the party we needed.
