3 years ago when I interviewed here I was told very explicitly overtime was optional but apparently I am not meeting expectations because I’m not working enough overtime/holidays?? I guess it’s a wrap for me.

Was immediately pulled into a call with my director this morning and was let go with a 90 day severance package. I’ll be receiving the package details in an email from HR eventually but still technically an employee for December. I feel relieved, BNY was easily the worst company I’ve ever worked for and am excited to try something new.
What ki-ls me is the boss picks and chooses when they want to be in charge. Roll up a sleeve and do it yourself.
@m1 the message given is to do this when they will tell you that you are being terminated

Manager told me to work remotely tomorrow and not come into the office without really elaborating, I kinda wish they would just get it over with if it’s going to happen.
@bg you might be right, apparently my manager was calling my coworkers frantically trying to get someone to work Saturday but wouldn’t say why, hoping it’s something else but that seems weird.
Very interesting that people solution reps are on these mgmt sessions literally saying there are no forced ratings and they are frustrated with hearing this. No bi--h there are and sr mgmt has also confirmed it
I can't remember the last time I did any overtime. This is all just HR using any excuse possible to get rid of people in groups where they need to meet their layoff quota.
Yes that’s end of the road. Take all of your sick leave, personal days and vacations. BNY will not compensate for unused time off. I went through this in March. I found a better job, better pay and better team members. Believe me the grass is in fact greener on the other side. BNY management is spineless, id--tic foolish , useless and incompetent. Probably the worst company in financial sector.
@b3 the running joke on my team is “Wait there’s an HR department?”
Unfortunately, HR don't care, I was told they are worried about their Jobs.
What you all need to understand is that these are made up excuses to try to justify them forcing ratings to be below expectations to meet their quota handed down from the mo--ns above. Im telling you this as a mgr dealing with same sh-t after my team was altered without mg knowledge. And guess what? There is no pip. Its termination now . Document everything including calls . Everyone needs to sue, file complaints and anything else you can to raise awareness . People are being marked below for sh-t they cant even support they did including hr. Remember they work for bny not you. This is how bad it is right now
@a8 yeah over 3 years we have hired 3 people including me for like the 8 who have been let go or retired, we are spread unbearably thin.
This is so easy to flip on it’s head and destroy.
IF… you are having to work more and more overtime, it’s proof that you leadership and management are definitely not meeting expectations. It’s proof that an 8 hour day / 40 hour week are insufficient due to failures of leadership, support and tools. It’s a violation of the Bank’s acceptance and support of work life balance.
Further, it’s proof this company is in trouble and AI is really A-Lie.
I’d file a complaint with HR just to have it on record. Maybe even contact your state’s EEOC office to check if terminating for refusing to work OT is legal. Most states are at will but it’s worth a look.
I was told i wasn’t meeting expectations for taking annual leave (that had been approved) . I was told by my manager that someone of my level (SVP) should be willing to give up their annual leave.
Just to add because I find it hilarious, I just worked every Sunday in October 🤷🏻♂️
