Sure, based on that link, in the high altitude, panoramic view of the company, all seems fine. The problems appear when we zoom in. In real life , FMC has been outsourcing NA white collar jobs. The company even hired more people abroad to replace the ones laid off in NA. So technically, the company should have even more employees.
Now, here comes the Achilles heel of the company: quality. Did the company replaced talented people close to retirement and pension milestones with more talented people? Nope. The company hired the cheapest it could find. So those numbers in the link provided by @OP mean nothing. Just a distraction. Think about this in another way. Let's say you have five paper bills in your wallet. It is the same having five 100's bills, or five 1's bill? You still have five bills in your wallet, but the difference is huge.
