Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford Motor Company Employee Totals 1984 -2024

Procrastinators of layoff doom, here is a record of totals for Ford employees.

I will post the link again when the 2025 numbers are updated.

Let see how correct the predictors of large layoffs for 2025 actually were.

@OP. Do you know what happens when someone provides only partial information? Disinformation. It is similar to saying that "half-truths" are truths, when they are really lies by omission.

Sure, based on that link, in the high altitude, panoramic view of the company, all seems fine. The problems appear when we zoom in. In real life , FMC has been outsourcing NA white collar jobs. The company even hired more people abroad to replace the ones laid off in NA. So technically, the company should have even more employees.

Now, here comes the Achilles heel of the company: quality. Did the company replaced talented people close to retirement and pension milestones with more talented people? Nope. The company hired the cheapest it could find. So those numbers in the link provided by @OP mean nothing. Just a distraction. Think about this in another way. Let's say you have five paper bills in your wallet. It is the same having five 100's bills, or five 1's bill? You still have five bills in your wallet, but the difference is huge.

Is that every plant worker included in the count as well as salary?

In 2025 it’s been more individual departures, but in 2026 there will be a culling if Model e: we won’t be selling many EVs or any subscriptions, all those people must be laid off.

@az Thanks for the link!

According to my Google search, I believe the layoffs listed as 9/19/2025 we in Germany due to slow sales in EV'.

Assuming the city locations without a name are offshore, total US layoffs total 737. I believe that total to be a bit higher.

To my original point, there has been no significant layoffs this year at Ford in the US.

Too bad we can’t filter it by country.

Also, I would love to see an analysis of how much of Ford’s net income throughout the years is due to labor arbitrage. How many Billions have they made selling us out to the lowest bidder?
