Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Am I blacklisted from working at Wells Fargo?

Now what if I told you I was a former BNY Mellon employee who was let go several months ago, and has made dozens of attempts to look for work at Wells Fargo. A vast majority of my former coworkers also left BNY from 2024-2025, either voluntarily or being let go, and they coincidentally ended up at Wells Fargo.

So far I've faced nothing but rejections, some of them instantaneous. When I login to the WF Workday site to keep track of my various applications, I've noticed that all of the dozens of the applications in my dashboard have "no longer considered" for their statuses. All of them.

Do you think it's personal, as in someone at WF remembers me from BNY and does not want me there – or is it how they're treating everyone nowadays?

So I guess the grass really isn't greener on the other side.

OP
I started with WF as a contractor. It was better back before Scharf. In less than 7 months the full-time position opened up and I applied for and got it. You might want to sign up with a contract company like Apex or one that specializes in your category of expertise.

I doubt you are blacklisted. You just missed the 2024 wave and now everyone is being rejected, not just the BNY folks. Also, spring time is usually the time of year when WF is more active with hiring (after budgets are finalized). However, given how sh---y it's getting, I would expect a reduction in hiring activity even during hiring season.

Also, why the he-l would you want to come here when you know how Charlie Scharf operates? He's done a fine job of making it just as terrible as BNY and the other institutions he's tainted with his one-trick-pony chainsaw talent.

Don't come here.

My applications all say in review, and then I get the thanks, but no thanks, weeks later. It might be one of two things: politics, or they already have the candidate. Wells has to post all positions. The only way to get a promotion is for it to be posted. Sorry, I hope you find something soon.

Being blacklisted from WF is a badge of honor. Put it on your resume.

@a4, You are right. Wells Fargo is known for gaming the system. Most (88%) of the posts are fake. @OP if you know someone in the bank ask them if they know of a current or potential job opening.

OP: Several possibilities. If you are over 50, there is a target on your back. The older you are, more likely they are to displace you. WF apps in Workday require college graduation date. This is under the radar way for hiring manager or recruiter to guess your age range and disqualify you if over a certain age. Many WF "jobs" are really placeholders for an inside candidate (internal candidate or another buddy from JPM, BNY, India). Sometimes postings are really fake. posted to make it look like WF is growing and has a lot of open recs when not really the case. In both cases, the tell is post and end date is less than a week. Ive seen some postings open and close in 24 to 48 hours after posting.
