HMP - unassigned seating fails

ABU was among the first business units to move toward modernization and, in the process, implemented unassigned seating. The experiment failed spectacularly, creating widespread frustration and ultimately forcing a reversal back to assigned seating.

It’s hard not to ask why we continue to repeat initiatives that have already demonstrated clear and predictable failure, rather than learning from past experience.

@ar they have no choice but to lie about it. It's a great measure of a manager. If you see them promoting how great it is, DO NOT TRUST that manager.

Harden up cobber, your mates up the terrace at Woodside have had unassigned seating for years and the sun still comes up, bit too precious in the sleep pods down in ABU

This sounds worse than the cubicle days after the Texaco buy-out... at least then you had your own cubicle! Yes, history does repeat itself to those who (choose to) forget the mistakes of the past.

Why we repeat initiatives that have failed.

Three reasons. One. A highly paid, 25 year old consultant just out of college told MW it was a good idea and it would save money (with no data to back up the claim). Two. MW doesn’t care what employees think. Three. MW still has an office.

The execs simply don’t care about how employees feel about working in the office. They are old school set that productivity comes from butts in seats. However, you won’t see them in unassigned seating where the last person leaves their sticky cups and crumbs. In fact, they have their own floor and who knows if they’re actually in the office. No one sees them.
We were told that other locations got used to open seating and loved it. We know by now how much we can trust what is said.

The first thing to show morale is bad is a rough restroom. Many are cesspools in Houston! People don't flush! Stop taking a MW and leaving it!

Filth is right! I observe people use the restroom and not wash their hands. These same nasty individuals then use the shared workstations and cafe areas. 🤮

Because we work in an environment where our leaders have a short memory, or someone else comes in that doesnt know the past and repeats the same mistakes. Thats why you never try to erase history kids.
I have been in the houston office now for about 2 weeks and it is the absolute worst environment I have ever worked in. People are inconsiderate and nasty dirty.
Chev always touted being safe, filth is not safe.
But this is all part of the plan to get more people to resign, so theres that
