Nah, you're just the Chump du Jour who provided an appearance of fairness so they can give the position to an underqualified candidate with the right intersectionalities.

@OP, run. Four brutal rounds for an internal move is not normal—it’s a giant red flag. This isn’t a hiring process; it’s a bully test. Here’s the translation: They want to see if you’ll grovel, complain, or quietly endure the humiliation.
If you stay polite and professional → you fail (too “nice”).
If you push back or b..tch → you pass (you can dish out fear).

This place doesn’t reward skill; it rewards the ability to motivate through intimidation. Four rounds is just ritual humiliation to weed out anyone who still believes in respect or psychological safety. Same bank that ran the fake-accounts scandal, the endless “efficiency” offshoring layoffs, the re-org circus, and the RTO Survivor game. Nothing has changed—the culture still runs on fear. Internal transfer? Withdraw the second you can. Take the energy, polish the résumé, and jump to anywhere that hires humans, not masochists. JPMorgan, Capital One, Truist—any real bank—will do two friendly rounds max and actually want you to succeed. Document the clown show, use the tuition reimbursement for AI/Cloud certs, quietly quit the process, and get out. Read what these bullies never opened: The Fearless Organization. My mission: fearless workplaces. There’s a much better option—go grab it.

Probably means they have a few at least more than 1 ideal candidate so no it doesn’t mean you will get the job for sure. At best a 50/50 unless someone told you not to worry you are the one?? Or the other person is the real selection but you are right there and that may have caught them off guard

The number of rounds of interviews they expect people to go through is crazy.

Sounds like they're trying to cover their bases before stating they couldn't find a qualified candidate and need to hire an H1-B.
