You can file but you won't get unemployment until severance runs out. Doesn't hurt to get your ducks in a row.

Severance pay first. After that you get unemployment. You don't get both at the same time.

I've heard you can, can't verify though. I would expect unemployment would be part of the "let go" situation. Being let go is not being fired, so I'd expect to be allowed to file for unemployment.
