Thread regarding Optum layoffs

It is hard to feel secure these days

With all the recent changes, it is difficult to feel settled in your job. Especially when you see roles shifting around or disappearing entirely all the time. It makes planning for the future feel almost impossible. I just wish there was more stability for everyone.

Job security is a thing of the past.

Keep networking, keep your marketable skills up-to-date and consider having a side gig in case you find yourself between jobs.

OI is a sinking ship. Optum Tech is the dumpster fire on deck.

Unfortunately in the U.S., job security has less and less to do with marketable skills. The younger generations know this. The advantage they had of immersion in computer related technology due to middle class status (a car in every garage and desktop in every home) is squandered.

Whomever has convinced you there is JOB SECURITY anywhere has lied to you. Does not exists and this is why you should always be doing something to enhanced your own marketable skills.

Never has been and never will be a safe place to work. Last 10 years have been hellacious. Profits over people is the mantra.

Entire healthcare landscape is rapidly changing. I don’t think one can feel completely secure anywhere these days. Regardless of the role. Even broadly speaking, look how many companies are laying people off.

You won’t find it here. This place is going down hill fast and offshoring more than ever. I am running as fast as I can somewhere else while I can still make that choice freely.
