Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

PTO Usage

Super first world problem here - I still have a job, so I’m happy about that BUT…

I work in mortgage. We recently found out in 2023 only 10% is allowed out on PTO per day. That is 1 person per team. If another person requests, they will look at my 2 ups teams to see if there is availability (not to exceed 10% per manager). In the event there is more than 10%, an exception needs to be sent to my 3 up and never will more than 20% be allowed gone.

How is this even sustainable? With the amount of PTO most have, it will be nearly impossible for everyone to take their time off. Not to mention this is just going to encourage people to look at the approved calendar, realize how many are off and call in. Great business plan .

BEFORE you quit, use up all the floating holidays. Use them immediately. Then quit.

It'll probably fall by the wayside by Q2. If not, WFHM is a dying brand and most likely the team will be laid off or offshored.

Guys it’s Charlie. I need you to get back to the office. It’s critical. Just trust me!

Worked for many other banks on the street and bar none WF has the most pi-s poor managers I’ve ever encountered. Most of whom are do-nothing lifers who add little to no value. If Charlie and co are looking to clean house these are the low hanging fruit.

That's common in ops type roles. I suggest you deal with it or find something else. A lot of other industries go through the same like nurses, teachers, etc

I work in a Tech Business Services team and our manager is a total dweeb. He lets everyone and anyone take PTO at the same time but tells them if he calls, they need to answer. No one does because they are on freaking PTO not on call!

Last year it was me and two other people out of nearly 20 working the week between Christmas and New Year. It was ridiculous with the escalations no one could help with and people getting pi---d at US because so many people were out. This year the three of us are out that week. Not dealing with that abuse again.

That 10% rule must be awesome on teams with 9 or less people in them, lolz.

Actually, this type of scheduling has been around for a while.

When management makes their problems your problem it might be time to start looking.

They could hire more people - the place is crazy profitable, no matter how much they cry poverty - but instead they’ll let you play Hunger Games for a day off. The money to buy back that stock has to come from somewhere!

They're trying to get you to quit.

I suggest scheduling your PTO for every day your manager or 2-up has requested.

Sounds like some management make up some new rules on their own.
