Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

How many more people are they going to cut before they realize we are already operating at a bare minimum head count at some facilities?

@az: the problem / main difference is that the current job market does not resemble the job market from four years ago when people were jumping from job to job or company to company. It's much more competitive now due to the accumulation of layoffs across so many tech companies over the past year. The lucky ones are those who find a replacement job if they get WFR'd, but the pay might be 50% of what they were making at HPQ.

This was totally expected. RAM and SSD prices are going through the roof for AI data centers. The added costs will severely compress PC manufacturers' margins. HP is behind the eight ball on this. They have spent every last bit on "shareholder value" and not on capital expenditure. Also, the money they borrowed during Covid is resetting to higher interest rates.

Do we know how much HP donated to Trump for his ballroom?

I’m happy that I left HP four years ago. If you’re not planning an exit strategy, you should be. I started sending out resumes and found a great job right before the last big layoff was announced. The real truth is that HP is producing commodity products and the competition is undercutting them on price while providing good quality and value.

This is just a performance for the Wall Street. They will lay off the same number of people that they lay off every year.

The announcement for yet another multi-year cost reduction program with headcount cuts is nearly identical in total cuts and timeline (3 years) as the last one and EER was offered the first week of January after the Q4 announcement. I just wish those of us who were WFR'd more recently had the opportunity to stick around long enough to get the full EER. The WFRs have definitely felt like HP has been targeting the older, more 'tenured' employees in the US.
