Any job openings at T ? I have 8 years of experience in engineering. I keep hearing they are hiring construction workers but have not seen any jobs in engineering.

Engineer at AT&T Mobility here. AT&T peaked at 310k employees back in January 2008. Down to 140k as of January 2025. That number will probably go down to at least 130k when they next report it in late January 2026, which will be a reduction of 180k employees in 18 years (10k per year on average). T-Mobile has 70k employees and looks like Verizon will be down to 86.6k once you subtract the just announced 13k being let go. AT&T brings in slightly less revenue than Verizon and has more employees. Not a winning combination. So it looks like the company is going to be in forever layoff/surplus mode. Not the best place to work. Looking at the numbers, working for any of the big three is not the most secure place to work. The wireless market in the US has been saturated, so now it’s about cutting costs the most. Then there’s the generative AI stuff which is supposed to allow more automation. You get the picture.
AI has taken all the Engineering positions.
“Engineering” has been automated.
We don’t need people to create connection from A to Z any longer.
I heard Verizon is now hiring

When I interview people, I ask "why do you want to work for AT&T"? And the only good answers I expect are something like "because I have a death wish or I really need the money"
Lumen has openings.
Vz dumped 15,000 do they need a reason?
OP.....are you desperate for cash? Why did VZ dump you? Are you a "ringer"?
The office I sit in has hired engineers a few times this year. The issue is they look internally before they're allowed to go to the street. So you have to prove there isn't a single good internal candidate before going external. There's always a outside tech thats sick of the weather or their body is giving out.
Can you relocate to Hyderabad?
