For those that were RIF’d, are you looking for employment in your same line of work, or do you desire something completely different?

@d2 same here! I’m really looking forward to completely switching fields, going back to school to learn a trade (already registered) and doing something that is joyful and fulfilling. My job at Verizon was none of that! The only thing good about the 29 years I called VZ my employer is the severance I am now receiving!
Taking a long overdue holiday with my family then finding a new industry to work in. I have been in Telecom my whole life. This severance allowed me the opportunity to pick and choose what I want to do next while having enough to live on. I can’t wait to take a look at what else is out there. Verizon’s a wonderful company and the benefits are top tier, but I can’t say I’ll miss the stress and exhaustion and never ending fire drills
(2018 VSPer here) There is life after Vz and your skills/experience is transferable if you’re not a rigid thinker. For the network folks.. think out of the box. Automation, renewable energy, self driving vehicles, etc…You’re most likely not going to find a job integrating radio heads or creating SIP dialing plans or even as a wireless core network engineer…at least for the salary you’re used to. You need to look to other industries. Good luck to everyone impacted!
I got RIF’d in the spring. I thought about staying in wireless but took a job in the defense industry. I wish I would have done it 10 years ago.
I just want health insurance dude. This country is a capitalistic he-l hole eating itself. I want what every major country has as a right, fu--ing healthcare. This job gave me healthcare and I’m about to lose it. I don’t care what job I get next I need my medication that’s all that matters.
