I was doing some research on common severance situations using my AI of choice and it mentioned that some have been able to negotiate a better severance offer even up to the VSP levels? Anybody know is that really a thing? I didn't think we really had any leverage in this whole thing?

@a1 that seems like the pattern here, especially in some orgs. What’s the argument if that is the case?
The packages have already been created. All severance packages will be available for viewing after each riffed employee is notified.
No negotiating at Verizon
@OP LoL come on man.
Unless you "know where the bodies are buried" you have no additional bargaining leverage.
YES DO WHATEVER THE AI TELLS YOU TO! WHY ARE YOU BOTHERING ASKING US, YOU ARE CLEARLY NOT FIT FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF VERIZON
It is not negotiable but if you can prove wrongful dismissal you can sue.
@a2 it seems from HR/severance site...its 1 week severance per year worked...
No chance at all. It’s all set for everyone.
good luck with that one.in N.Y you are a at-will employee ,they dont have to give you anything,take your 2weeks per year and run.
Depends on your years of service, your age, your education. If they’ve obviously kept people less educated and with less experience, and your performance ratings are better, then you might have an argument.
