Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

What happens to contractors?

Are contractors cut before FTEs? It would be weird to cut FTEs but keep contractors.

Our leadership already said they are actively looking at contractors so expect cuts when the rif is done.

Non Americans are engineers and have access to everything. This is a national security issue. Call up DJT

Contractors, regardless of where they are from, are not necessarily cut first or at all. They are typically retained to ensure work continues to get done and are very easy to off board and on board as needed. Contractors are paid from a different part of the labor budget and are much less expensive as their salary is the only labor cost vs. FTEs where there fully loaded cost is salary + benefits + taxes and other overhead costs.

Contractors, for what type of work, only IT, or other functional areas?

First, Verizon has an abundant amount of temporary employees who are H-1B visa status holders, Indians, needing to be displaced and not US citizens.

H-1B visa status holders, mostly Indians, should be terminated first and foremost.

@a3 right-sizing. lol

No, its not right-sizing. Its cutting headcount at the end of the year to make the financials look better. Most of these people will he rehired or outsourced. Verizon is FAR too loyal to the stupid dividend. $11B a year paid out for no reason

@OP Verizon has a plan to reduce employees and hire more contractors. They have stated that contractors are better because of no severance, no opinions, can be released at any time and really just easier to deal with.

Not necessarily as it depends what organization the contractors are employed and what skills they bring to the company.

Remember Verizon is not going out of business it's right sizing it's existing operations to improve its going forward business prospects.

that is not the right question. the right question is will the india people be cut before the several generation America people. You know the answer mr smartie. especially since the india people can't produce no more sales. The customers will come if they like the the face of the company. If the italian resatruant has an ind ia face on the front door....I won't go instide myself. That is not not supossed to be there. learn the world and how it works cutie
