Any specifics in what was negotiated in the US?
Depends a lot on local practices and laws.
I've been told it can be negotiated with HR many did last December
It’s take it or leave it. And actually is on the better end of what a lot of companies will provide. There is no flexibility to negotiate. Your only option would be to sue if you thought a law was broken.
