I haven't been in my position for a full year can they still lay me off?

If it helps I was promoted to an AD hardly 3 months ago, I can still be on the list for no fault of mine as my Director is thrilled with my work so far. Look at it from another perspective. If we can choose to leave the company anytime why can't they let us go? It hurts but it is the truth.

@OP “they” can do WHATEVER they want. All the “rules” only matter to keep employees down. They don’t matter at all, aren’t real and definitely aren’t considered in layoffs. Just one of us peons subject to the ax Thursday morning. God speed!
Of course they can.... any company can. You could have been promoted yesterday and still lay you off.
