I keep hearing folks whisper about layoffs like it’s something to hide, and I don’t get it. Most of us end up caught in one at some point and it’s got nothing to do with our worth. I’ve been through it myself and the silence only makes everything heavier. We shouldn’t act like losing a job is some kind of personal flaw.

Nobody I know is acting like this.
We no longer “find” oil and gas. We simply develop source rock. Not much risk in that. The risk is investing your education into a volatile career path
Is it 2 or 3 times?
Agree 100%. I have been in the oil and gas industry for many years. Been laid off 2-3 times, and the companies I worked for bought out at least 3 times. It is as much a part of this business as actually finding oil and gas. It is just part of it.
