@qt You pay "BenefitDirect" and the only form of payment they take is directly from your bank account. They in turn pay O, since O is self insured.
@p2 You pay UHC, which bills Oracle for the services rendered.
@cz Ask HR in Canada?
cobra = oracle as they are self insured. you make the checks out to oracle. i think.
@d3 Get another job with benefits, or go back to school full time
@d3 Once you hit 65 you can switch to medicare. Before that you are stuck with Obamacare.
@cd what are the available options after COBRA expires?
@cy Canadian provincial universal healthcare is not so universal, it doesn't cover dental, eyes and medication for adults. does Oracle offer anything to cover some dental and eyes after layoff?
COBRA is a US thing. No COBRA in Canada.
you get to choose which coverage you want under cobra - yourself or yourself+significate other or yourself+family - I am not sure if you can 'up' your coverage if you just have yourself - but you can lower it (drop from family to self)
- let go Aug 13 - been on cobra and will continue through next year at least given the open market option prices
@bv If your spouse was covered by O's healthplan while you were employed then your spouse is eligible for COBRA.
Will said spouse get the first month free? Only if you sign up for COBRA yourself, otherwise the first month is not free.
Does that Cobra extend to your spouse?
One month in US if you agree to sign an agreement waiving your rights to any litigation.
