What's the best way to find a position within AT&T? External sites generally don't post some positions I have found.

Tony?
Retired T employee (32 years)...it amazes me how some trolls get so many replies. This person seems completely unaware of the tools (which there is training for) within the company for seeking a job. Good Saturday night entertainment peeking out here to see what's stirring (and yeah I realize the irony of posting to a troll! ;) ).
This is how it works in the 5 state Midwest to get promoted. Your mom and dad worked here, your dad worked here, or you personally check several boxes for the org. When you really look at the AMs, Directors, and AVPs it is astonishing the lack of talent we have been saddled with.
Well there are plenty of unattractive, under qualified men who've somehow stayed employed and moved through the ranks via promotions. In fact, most of the 'men' working in field positions/ops would definitely fall into that category unattractive and definitely not brilliant. But who's counting. That would be petty and stereotypical wouldn't it?
The best position in ATT is to bend over and grab your ankles and say, "thank you sir, may I have another?"
This can’t be a serious post……unbelievable.
HR Onestop—>Career—>Career Opportunities—>All Career Opportunities
Then select one of these:
U.S. Management
or
U.S. Non Management
or
International
If yer purtie you've got a chance, a very good chance.
Where are the HR people, that are always on this site, to answer this question?
Odds of finding an internal job at T is much worse than being attacked by a vending machine!
Knee pads
Network. About the only way. Ask around quietly. Find an open position and reach out to the hiring manager. Every hire and promotion is done through the back door. The rest are formalities.
Internal job search is a joke and shows everything that is wrong with the company.
Without an inside track, it took me 160 applications to find an internal position for my last job. Of those 160, I only procured three interviews.
I literally applied for anything with "senior" or "principal" in the title, over the course of about four months.
Every other of the ten or so positions I've had here in my 20+ years, I was the only candidate and the career path posting was a formality.
Bottom line, it takes a ton of effort to get anything on career path without inside help.
Developing the or-l skills is a big plus at AT&T.
“ If you are indeed an employee, you would know how to access the data base of open management positions, and setup automatic notifications of openings based on your career objectives. I've gotten two positions that way.”
That worked really worked for you? Wow! I put in over 40 blind applications and got nothing. All 3 position changes were achieved by networking.
If you are indeed an employee, you would know how to access the data base of open management positions, and setup automatic notifications of openings based on your career objectives. I've gotten two positions that way. L1 and L2 positions have to be posted and the hiring manager only sees the applicants when the job posting closes. The hiring manager also has to provide high level comments for their selection. Networking is a tremendous help when the hiring manager calls your supervisor or when you can see who the hiring manager is IF you get an interview.
“ To the man who wrote: ‘If you’re a hot female, just look cute’. And then had the audacity to add: ‘Sorry….’ You’re right, you are sorry….which is probably why you’ve probably never been promoted. I hope your entire leadership team is comprised of women and those ‘hot females’ keep you at the bottom of the barrel, which is exactly where you belong”
Angry much? Glad I could stir the pot for you. Let me ask you, you know all the pretty blondes at the top? Go to their LinkedIn profiles and tell me they are qualified. Most are barely 40 if even and at the very top. Not saying they slept their way there at all, just saying it helps to be attractive to get noticed. Plenty of studies done to prove that point. Plenty of real world examples. Just calling it how it is.

The tried and true method at AT&T is to be as obsequious as possible whenever your boss or his boss or his bosses’ boss is around.
Why would anyone want to move to another position within T?
Better to direct your search outwards, and find a job that appreciates you, where the bosses don't lie to you all the time, and where you won't have to constantly worry about being the next poor sap to get shown the door.
T is always looking for sales folks.
"Newsflash....T 'haint a hirin'" this is never true
Newsflash....T 'haint a hirin'
T has way too many employees, many are ringers. T is trying to separate the wheat from the chaffe.
Good luck with yer external job search, you got a boatload of competition.
There’s been a hiring freeze on pretty much all internal jobs since July, so you aren’t going to find much other than some random jobs working in phone stores around the country.
