Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

How are wfh violations tracked and punished?

Team has been 3 in office 2 at home for a while, but not everyone adheres to this. Some I know only go in once or twice a week.

How is this stuff monitored and are there warnings/escalations or does someone just run a report one day and fire everyone who hasn’t met the expected number of days?

Do they at least give you are warning to give your sh1t together before firing you?

@7sgl+1kXORmrD - spot on. No way this cheap-o, broke-azz bank spending $$$ on AI to track employees.

Used to be VPN usage report, which has lost favor in preference to badge swipes.

Our managers (Band 2 and Band 3) are not receiving any reporting whatsoever.

So maybe HR (or the very top of the house) is looking at some aggregated report of badge swipes by LOB overall, and possibly location (esp. in core hubs).

That said, however, I am hearing rumblings around getting more serious about having butts in seats. No idea what actions they make take to achieve that, but assume you'd at least get a verbal warning first.

A friend was told in a team meeting that HR has been pulling reports. Disciplinary action is coming for those that should be RTO and haven't come in at all. Others probably heard the same because I'm seeing new faces back in the office each day.

I just hope that the ones ignoring the rules don’t ruin it for the followers. I come in 3 days a week sometimes 4 and on a few occasions I need to work from home a few extra days because of a cold. So basically I follow protocol. People that feel they are untouchable continue to do what they want. I fear the rug will be pulled out from all of us and the others will not be held accountable until they are finally given an ultimatum ( which could go on for years) under the radar.

Why would they need to do that? They can see badge swipes and where you log in on your computer.
Lists aren’t being distributed with tracking.

Office is 90% empty anyway.

Im getting multiple follow up emails from bosses and teams. Which means some upper management goon is pushing down the orders...

If they want to fire you for not showing up they will spin it as your performance has declined and they will cook up excuses to fire...

Modern workplace have cameras installed. They are using AI technology to keep track of folks movements.

There are a ton of folks with accommodations- and some have guidelines to WFH 100%, some can come into the office when they are able to, etc.
I have long-Covid (horrible symptoms kicking my bu-t)… none of my peers know my circumstances - neither do the folks who sit near me (because my whole team is across the US.. not even at my site), so don’t let it bother you too much because you just don’t know all the factors and different approved schedules/ accommodations.

Tracking becomes a database of your sock drawer at some point.

I see folks badge in and turn around and go back home. Others leave at lunch time.

Most leaders won’t/don’t even see reports.

We were told they track by the badge in report. They could track by VPN hours but so far that hasn’t been communicated. I do know the report is being accessed way more now. So far I have seen no consequences for not coming in, although I’m sure this will be grounds to terminate whenever they make the decision.

I doubt they will fire an individual for it unless they do so across the board, as otherwise that would lead to disparate treatment and an eventual lawsuit/settlement. Doesn't mean it won't lead to terminations at some point, potentially, but this mentality that certain people within the same job role/department would be exempt seems ignorant.

They are tracked and punished like this:

  1. Average every day employees: tracked & punished.
  2. Cronies / Favorites: not tracked & punished.

I have not seen any evidence they will check. Of course if you don't go into the office every once a while, your ID will lose access. If your manager doesn't care, you can probably wfh all the time.

Who tf cares. Let them fire us for not showing up to the office. Atleast the work gets done. Let them onboard new people and let them train them on their own. Tuh

It serves as a pre cause for the higher ups. If they want to fire you then they use that as a reason. But they dont really check unless some is looking get you fired then they have a reason. 2 of team member show up sometimes and when they come in, they leave before 12. My manager sometimes doesnt show up. Older folks tend to show everyday tho
