Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T and Verizon cut 9,400 jobs last quarter

Yet even the number of employees at "continuing operations" has fallen by 3,000 over this period, a drop that left AT&T with just 169,900 employees at the end of September. And numbers out today show that headcount subsequently plummeted by 7,000 in the final three months of 2022. This means about 4% of jobs at AT&T disappeared over this period.

"On multiple occasions, we made it clear to Newsmax that we wanted to continue to offer the network, but ultimately Newsmax's demands for rate increases would have led to significantly higher costs that we would have to pass on to our broad customer base," DirecTV said

Why are they charging more, or charging DirectTv at all? Don't they sell commercials? Or does no one advertise on NewsMax. Sounds like a company that is looking for a free lunch.

I'm ready to go...take me, take me, Please! Getting laid off would be a welcomed offer at this point just so I can finally get some serious REM sleep for once.

Per the Earnings report the number of employees went from 172,880 at the end of 21 to 162,929 at the end of 22. They no longer break those numbers out by business units so no idea of what those numbers entail.
