Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Bad boss

I'm planning to resign soon. The current supervisor is a pain in the bu-t. I will not go into details but I am tempted to send a resignation email instead of talking to the a-s first.

Should cc the boss's boss and HR in that resignation email?

Appreciate any constructive suggestions.

Keep in mind if you find a job with a competitor, and give your 2week notice, they’ll dismiss you immediately and you get 2 weeks pay on them ( at least this was how it was a few years ago). Something to consider

If you have another job lined up, tell them your last date is blank and leave out the details. I jumped ship almost two years ago and it was the best move for my career.

No need to talk with the. Email. Last day date. While it ki-ls, say “thanks for the opportunity. Ive learned a lot, good luck to everyone.”

In six weeks, you'll get your AIP. Don't leave until then.

I say go ahead and speak to the manager but tactfully of course. If there's something going on with this manager where his or her ( or they or them) sorry trying to stay proper which is tough these days, behavior is inappropriate for whatever reason and it may help other associates then yes, but you should maybe inform HR. Are you going to another company ? Just don't burn britches as another poster stated. Blessings

Wait for your AIP to be paid out because If you voluntarily leave, they will not pay it out. I believe, unless you are in California or Arizona, they will not pay out any PTO at all.

I have resigned from plenty of bad managers over the years and not once did I verbally speak to them first. Usually, I have spoken to them numerous times while working for them and nothing improved, which is why I quit. I am a very good worker, and they were bad managers, so I just put the resignation in email and copied the manager's manager and pressed send. Make sure to burn your PTO down to next to nothing before resigning. Have your next job lined up with an offer in writing that includes your salary amount and any other benefits and sign-on bonuses you negotiated. Never assume anything when accepting a new position with a company. Get everything in writing. Good luck in your new job.

Thanks very much! I have a new job. My question is still "before sending a resignation email, should I talk to that good-for-nothing d-mb supervisor in person"?
The supervisor and team are bad but I don't think the company is. Thanks!

Focus all of your energy on finding a new job. Give two weeks notice, say thanks for the opportunity, and off to your next adventure. I have a good boss, but the department is a wreck and not worth staying for.

Thanks, should I discuss this with that d-mb supervisor in person before sending the resignation email?

Appreciate your wonderful responses!

As hard as it is, as a recruiter, formerly with Anthem my recommendations
Give notice - 2 weeks or minimal if you already have another job?
You don’t need to give any reason but yes copy your bosses boss.
Make sure YOU are being taken care of. Don’t burn bridges, other leaders could pop-up at future companies
Depending upon your state Anthem will only payout 1 week PTO. Do make sure you schedule and take time off before notice.
Despite what people will tell you, it is far easier to find a job while still employed vs quitting and then searching.

Finally recognize there are bosses who shouldn’t be in leadership everywhere. Frustrating. But a reminder of reality.

Having a plan will help ease your stress, making it easier for you as you move on! Good luck!
