Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Layoffs??

The only place I have heard anything about job cuts is here. And every post and comment sounds like the same guy. Where does the info that we have layoffs come from? In 202 they told us a bout it long before it actually happened.

Before the major cuts, they were already looking at cutting back selected portions of the company. This is the calm before the storm. They're not going to tip their hand before the next axe swings.

“Oil isnt going to dip below $60”… this is probably true, unless Russia leaves Ukraine, Iran makes a deal with the west to remove sanctions, or Venezuela changes its government. Even with none of that happening, Chevron’s assets are maturing such that fewer people are needed to maintain current development. Either we find or buy more assets, or expand into other investment areas, or we just will not need current employee levels. The big baby bo-m retirement wave is mostly over. The problem with acquisition or investing in other areas is we might not need all our current employees even if total numbers remain the same. Even if current layoff rumors are not true, be careful where you position yourself within the company going forward!

If it "sounds like the same guy" then it must be the same guy, right?

Like others say with our current management there seems to be an obsession with layoffs every couple years. They need to find new ways outside of cuts to the rank and file all the time.

So much d-mb on this site. Oil isnt going to dip below $60 anytime soon unless there is a major recession or another pandemic. There has been insufficient investment in crude supply for several years now while demand continues to march upwards.
