Unfortunately, instead of employees being seen as the most valuable asset, we are just an expense for them. This is a place where I can no longer count on any kind of job stability because there is none here. There is only stress and fear of job loss. Are layoffs really the only way to cut costs? Is our leadership considering any other cost cutting options?

My paycheck is a number.
If you are seeing the cutbacks that are happening across the country in almost every industry it should be a given that employees are looked at as a expense. Not just the terrible decisions that leaders have made the past few years but technology. For example who doesn’t believe that the massive investment in the fiber build isn’t going to result in a reduction of work. Saw it with the Uverse build. Where it was put in F1 repair basically disappeared.
I nominate those ESG/DEI departments and training for cost saving cuts.... What a ton of woke crappola that is turning out to be.
There is room for headcount cuts. Every team I have ever been on has had several employees holding a headcount allocation for a specific role, but performs completely different work. Only 9 of the 14 people on my team perform direct support work, the work for which they were hired. The other 5 woke up on Wednesday and decided they were "coders". To make matters worse, 12 of us used to perform on call duties, and now there are only 5 pulling that duty for 2 weeks at a pop. It is a real beat down.
Too many mouths to feed
You are a number. Nothing more, nothing less.
Paying workers. Paying investors. Ungrateful much?
T is one of the only companies with an annuity. What’s this mean ? Simply that because of the recurring revenue monthly, very bad decisions by leadership are diluted. If leadership was in an environment where revenues were earned every month by actual sales….the ship would have been sunk already. It’s the Titanic…and everyone from the street, employees to customers knows it, it will just take longer than the average company.
if you are raising someone else kid not of your own. you are a cuck.
T is a waste. We are in 3rd place in wireless. Who else could sc--w up an easy play- Randy & Johnny.
Anyone who drinks the kool-aid is naive .
Welcome to real life. The job you are looking for is in Disneyland.
ceos are mo--ns - stank was shown way back in the 2005 - 2007 time frame that IT could run cheaper and have more quality than outsourcing. he did it anyway. he is a complete mo--n who only cares about himself and could care less if att goes belly up. there really is not other explanation.
cut newcontracts of programs that were meant to be productive but turned out to be duds.
What other cost does the company have control over. Nothing except employees and real estate. Most of the real estate is long gone.
There is so much wasteful spending on a daily basis that can easily be reduced! I've seen a ridiculous amount of wastefulness in my business unit and brought it to the attention of several managers. My immediate supervisor said not to worry about it, it's the cost of doing business! I was shocked at her attitude towards the wasteful unnecessary spending! If T really wanted to, they could avoid spending unnecessarily if they put their heart and soul into the matters. Unfortunately, laying off employees is a much easier task to deal with.
There is no other place for them to cut……unfortunately
