Christmas Party

Relatively new to Honeywell.

Are Christmas or Holiday Parties not a thing?

Talk about cheap.

Oh careful. Not only are you not aloud to say Christmas. But you will be forced to look at pride month posters and celebrate g-y pride the whole month of June. But also always remember to be yourself and feel empowered. Unless you are a white, straight, christian of course.

Exhibit #1 how you know you work at a bad company. Not even a Christmas card to acknowledge the holiday.

We bought our own food. Honeywell must own the place that cater to us. It was Chinese, and our carrots weren’t cooked. They didn’t use traditional Japanese restaurant style sauce for the beef and Chinese vegetable chow mein. It was water with soy sauce.

The eggrolls were cooked right. Some people didn’t get their orders. The quality of this restaurant has gone down the toilet. People who used to buy food here all the time. They told me the place is really cut corners.

This is why I really believe that Honeywell bought the restaurant. Sounds familiar.

SPS did a small round today. Selected "special" employees. I'm sure more are coming tomorrow. Just in time savings! The nerve of this guy GK!

I left almost 3 years ago. My last "holiday" pot luck was a scaled back affair. Of course, when covid came along, no party. I have wondered if they resumed the annual holiday lunch but I wasn't being invited (as as now retiree). I'm not a bit surprised that the cheap bstrds did away with it. The people running the place might be very "smart", but they have no common sense (or heart).

You'd likely get Covid or the Flu at a party. Or something else, depending on your approach to partying. Lighten up Francis, they are keeping you safe!

"Back in the day" at Engines the senior managers came around early in the afternoon of the last day before the Christmas - New Years break to pass out, get this, actual Christmas bonus checks. I used to have the formula for the amount, but it was based on years of service and generally was a pretty nice amount. Things started going downhill about the time they ended that practice, the first of many. The unspoken word was that after the management team came by, you were free to go home.

AiResearch -- RIP.

Xmas parties were left behind years ago along with Pensions, health insurance, vacation time, sick time, 401K, stock match and many more. It's all about the quarter and stock price. That is it. Forever. Want more, leave.

Christmas parties ended in the late 80's for my location (West coast). Guess we were ahead of our time. Now just a furlough and threat of RIFF most years.

Yeah, gotta admit that the food at Aero engines was bad. At least 80% of my sustenance that was provided went to the trash can.
That shouldn't even try.

I've never been in a company so concerned with every cent. No holiday party, ever, as nobody is permitted to expense the food on their T&E card. That email comes out every December, no site spending on T & E cards permitted. Bah humbug.

They have Christmas parties. You buy your own food. They allow one hour lunch.

Just like when you reach there matrix, you have a pizza party. You buy the pizza. If the bonus is really big, then sometimes they cover the pizza party.

We got a thin t'shirt saying "State Forty Eight", and a cr-p sandwich from the cafeteria.

Most years as a manager, either I would have to pay for it or split the bill. As I had employees making 50% more than me, I split the bill.

But directors have stashed money.
For example, a few thousand for small gift cards to hand out discreetly if someone really works a lot of overtime. Sometimes these budgets are not used and they can budget a team lunch as long as something about work is discussed.

My site always had Christmas luncheons for years. Then things started to change. First we got called out for referring to it as a "Christmas" party. Then we had to fund it ourselves. Then we had to make up our time on direct charges. Then we got called out because people were exceeding their allotted lunch time. After a few years everyone just kind of lost interest. Site leadership just kept making it more and more difficult until we just said "forget it".
