Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Another union signed the “agreement”

Looks like the Fireman and Oilers union has agreed to the merger with a “Job for life” by Vena.

It cracks me up when they sign an agreement, they did it early too. You know why, they lay off in January/feb just watch. Every railroad will do it

Oh goodie, you have a job for life. Will you want that job though? That’s the question. They’re already making the jobs so miserable that people are leaving on their own. Wait until the merger when they tell you your job is 2000 miles away and you have to start over on the roster. Oh, and moving money? That’s a thing of the past. The union isn’t doing you any favors by signing the agreement. This just makes the railroad look better to the stb for the merger. It’s political theater and that’s all.

Car dept. Needs to sign something similar. If we didn't know better you would think the CO. Was going out of buisness. Zero investment in new hires, tools, equipment. just a solid longterm plan?

Does say anything about before the merger. And read the Novel of fine print at the bottom.

That’s if you have a job before the takeover.

I'll bet anything that he's probably going to try to reduce the number of union crafts at the railroad in the form of a type of consolidation. Either way, I don't trust those agreements at all. If the UP authored the agreement, then you better not let your guard down. I wouldn't agree to it until it has been thoroughly read through and understood completely. The corporate whack jobs like to use language that is often confusing for some to understand, but hides details of what the agreement really means in plain site. So that way if someone feels they were done wrong or the UP broke the contract, they can pull out the contract and read it to you so it more understandable to you. Don't trust any agreement the UP made! No one can break the rules like the UP has, and you have Vena as the leader!
