Thread regarding Cargill layoffs

When Will They End This Nightmare?

Am I the only one who's absolutely drained from this whole situation?

Us folks in IT, we’ve been under this pressure for two solid years now. And what they’re doing to us? It’s straight-up inhumane. Imagine watching most of your coworkers walk out the door day after day, and then being told you're ‘safe’ the next. How long are we really safe for, though? The truth? Nobody’s safe ‘til they’ve booted out everyone who doesn’t fit into their ‘perfect’ new structure (aka all the new hires and the so-called ‘Olympus gods’).

It’s obvious the company’s just keeping us around long enough to wrap up some projects, then they’ll drop us like a bad habit once we’re no longer useful.

In the meantime, we’ve had to put everything on hold our career growth, life plans, financial decisions, all frozen for who knows how long. And still counting.

But hey, don’t worry, we’ll get the ‘good news’ soon enough. For now, just keep doing your best (and all the extra work from the people they already canned).

Good job, that’s how you wreck your company culture.

@v9 Why cant you start looking now or take a new role? I'm not following. It took me 6 months to find a job and I started looking 1 day after I was told I was loosing my job. Technically I was still an employee for 60 more days but wasn't in the office and didn't have network access. You should start to look now and honestly in this job market take IT, if you get it. Unemployment only lasts for 6 months and its not that much

Everyone should read the book “when McKinsey came to town”. The playbook is so clear and it tells you exactly how this ends.

So long Cargill!!! It was good while it lasted (except the last few years— those absolutely su-ked) and I am so happy now that I am out.

More money/ better benefits/less political drama and backstabbing.

I am so sorry. I was impacted the last week of October. My term date is several months away. While I appreciate the longer time for a paycheck, it makes it hard to look for something else when you can’t start for months. I am not giving I’ll my severance pay.

They started tons of CI projects in Europe. Goal to eliminate lots of blue collar people. Aiming for a global reduction by another 10%. Expect layoffs every day in small numbers. The culture of this once great company is gone and everyone who left and found a new job is begging me to leave as well as the outside world is much better. Cargill sold his soul especially in IT.
