I’ve been looking on this site for the past week and what I have gathered is nobody actually knows anything. Only thing I have seen is a lot of speculation. If you actually know something bring the proof. Also, does anybody think that maybe the acquisition of Frontier and once the acquisition goes through that will be the actual layoffs? Wouldn’t they just layoff the people that worked for Frontier if the jobs are already taken at Verizon? From what I’ve read Verizon will layoff 4,000-5,000+ people from Frontier once the acquisition is completed. I may be wrong but this makes sense.

@1jk WSJ says layoffs are next week. So it's not Frontier!
The Frontier stuff is possible but would be absolutely crazy. VZ's just paying $20b for what is unquestionably the best fiber business in America - and then you think they'd lay off all the talent that turned Frontier around? Would be total madness. Better to downsize in the super-bureaucracy and failing performance company that is Verizon.
15k in layoffs!

@bm I never thought of it that way, thanks.
@OP the Frontier layoff does make sense, in the mid- term post merger (think sales, customer care, operation staff in overlapping areas). But that doesn’t mean Verizon’s own layoff is dependent on it. Think of it another way, if you are on a cost saving mission, wouldn’t you prefer the employee net-adds post merger be as low as possible?
I'm not sure what the point of asking for a source is. I get you're frustrated with the straight up BS on this site but even if someone named a specific VP as a source, it's not like that's actionable. The information isn't public and isn't meant to be shared so if some random person from a different business group across the country goes to slack that VP, do you really think they're going to confirm the news they leaked????
I've been through several rounds of layoffs, the final numbers will never be known by front line employees anyway. If someone in the know accurately says a 15% reduction and your team of 10 loses 1 that doesn't make the leak wrong, we just never get the full picture.
@bb My AD and another from east coast BB
@bf If a VP, AVP, AD ETC doesn't know at this point then I would say that they are not wanting to say or is affected themselves.
@bc From an AD. No clue on Front merge if affected. I'm at an NEC in N Tex and freaked out myself.
@be Merry Christmas
@an leader in which group? Is this "leader" a VP, AVP, senior director. My VP told org nothing- knows nothing
You count on many will be home for the holidays.

@b7 “leader” is a strong word. I’ve worked with plenty of bosses for Verizon but very few leaders.
@b9 from what source? Does this number include the frontier merger?
@b8 heard from who? Everybody is saying this but nobody actually has any sources.
@b7 I mean if you’re already getting canned what’s the point?
@a3 16k is what I heard today!
I heard those affected will find out on 11/17 so the plan on 11/20 fits.
@ap Are you d-mb? Will people really out their leaders?
I'm hearing VCG folks will be drastically cut as well. Admin support staff will be butchered.
@b4 so you’re saying you are safe
@b3 of course. Not going to out myself. %’s will vary by org so best to keep LinkedIn updated and ready if affected
@b2 “manager” is a very broad term
Depends on the org. Manager confirmed they were told to target 20%
@az yes his plan will be out but his full plan isn’t to just fire everybody. That would obviously lead to shareholders having a fire sale and lead to no trust in the brand. This whole site is just full of speculation which is causing people to b stress out and then that’ll affect their performance.
@ay I don’t really care if you believe me or not. Why don’t you just act like you have a safe job and stay off this message board. Or, you can ask someone else who has been here when the merger took place and see if they don’t tell you the same thing. Shooting the messenger is not going to help your situation.
@OP Dan was quoted as saying his full plan will be public by 11/20. At least three groups (VBG, GNT, and another I do not recall the name of) will experience RIF's of 12-25%. No idea what the cuts will look like for the other groups.
@am you can't even spell "NYNEX". Why should I believe anything you say?
Still, no actual answer from anybody.
@as I'm working with stores and nobody from any store knows anything. So every store is going to get closed down?
@as so you're saying every store is closing down in a while region?
Agreed! No answer is an answer
@ap if no leader is confirming for YOU, you may want to be sprucing up the resume. Sorry to say. God speed!
@ap confirmed by who?
@ak yes, I know nothing. I am happy to say I know nothing lol
@an Which leader confirmed 11/20? It is ok to name names people.
@ab like management as in leadership or management as management employees, which is a totally different meaning.
Confirmed by a leader 11/20 is the day.
I was here when we merged with Ninex. They laid off a lot of Verizon(bell Atlantic at the time) management. I remember everyone thought that the layoffs were going to be mostly on the Ninex side. If you’re in management be prepared.
@OP
Soooo .. what you're saying is, you don't know anything either?
Solid post! Thanks
@ag this is another he said she said. Where is he proof?
