Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Is there more?

Does anyone have actual info on if there will be more layoffs this spring? What would be the purpose of a two wave layoff? Why not one fell swoop?

@aj "Wait till the end of the fiscal year (but before 50% bonuses are paid out) and clean house in those areas."

If they are doing another wave, they'll be doing it before March, which is when stock awards vest.

Yep, in Supply Chain they didn’t want to disrupt peak support too much. Will definitely not be p putting in the 12+ hour days and working 7 days per week during peak like I have previously to be thanked with a layoff after peak.

This is just a guess, but after letting significant staff go, you can’t have two people reporting to one manager. IMO departments need to be consolidated. Still too many L7’s and L’8’s left.

Just look at recent history. Round one massive HQ cuts. Round two targeting specific high loss store markets. Round three cutting teams and support in supply chain. Look at all the outsourcing to India, those are the folks who should be worried, along with those teams that don’t really add value.

Of course there will be. Just wait until after the holiday season, when sales su-k and the only logical thing to do is cut costs. Again.

There are layoffs monthly. Of course there will be layoffs by spring.

Wall St and Corporate America have overcome the taboo of doing layoffs over American holidays. Any Thursday is a lay off day.

Two waves because it's almost peak season and they don't want to disrupt teams in supply chain and C&C too much. Wait till the end of the fiscal year (but before 50% bonuses are paid out) and clean house in those areas.
