Any one have the scoop on why there are hundreds and hundreds of locomotives stored at Donkey Creek Wyoming and Guernsey Wyoming? Why don't they refurbish them, sell them off to another country's railroad, or scrap them out? Seems like the biggest waste i've ever seen!

Big grains trains about to start in the north.
Hard to imagine what's laid up with all the junkers we work to get in service.
Alliance Nebraska/revenna have a lot stored there too. Tier 4 locomotives are replacing the old ones. Sd70aces thunder cabs aren’t lead qualified and some of those are in storage. Coal is down.
Bnsf gets 200 locomotives a year from GE and 100 or so from Emd per contract. Macs are 30 years old plus they get a big tax break if they run more efficient locomotives and keep the old ones parked.
They are selling them to KCS and NS. Rapid city Pierre and eastern just took 6 dash 9’s. Kyle railroad took some also but I’m pretty sure GECX sold those to them but that’s another customer that takes them. Citx and Furx and Wells Fargo buys our old stuff also.
Old news. That $hit has been stored there for years. UP does the same thing. Their reason behind not selling is when freight starts moving again they pull them out of laid up status get them running and start pulling freight. Now we all know the tweakers steal all the TM, main gen leads and all copper. Then they end up putting a ton of money into them when yeah they should just sell lease or scrap um.
@a7 Nope. I dont foam over ignorance and mismanagement.
Foamer.
