Made it through another October

It seems the last couple of years the two most worrisome months of the year are October and april. We made it through another october. Maybe we can breathe easy for the next few months?

@e0 please be aware that they start this month. I’ve heard brevard county specific info - is right around Thanksgiving .. but have seen posts people have been layed off already BUT supposedly L3H will not be doing anymore layoffs after this one. But who knows - I was told there’s some sort of new plan they’re coming out with

@14p you heard right. So far, Florida, virginia, and new york. I have not heard from my colleagues in New Jersey yet. But, I would imagine they will be affected too since space and Airborne systems has a large presence there.

In the parking garage in Clifton right now. Wondering if I should go upstairs at 7 or turn around and go home..... call in sick. Too old and too Caucasian to get hired somewhere else, too young to retire...
I hate this place so effing much.

If negotiating a good union contract (Clifton) results in a layoff, of what use is the contract? They promised a big raise but not for all of you.

@th he had no choice. He was removed because he wasn't doing anything. He's back in the shipping department sitting by his desk with his thumb up his a-s as usual. Probably still taking cigar breaks.

YAH BUT despite all the good news from Ken and Chris, the stock FELL after peaking around $300 PRIOR TO Chris & Ken speaking. Like a small pump n dump which didn’t sustain from big boys’ earnings call.

Despite all good news from Ken & Chris, the stock price isn’t sustaining where DE Shaw wants it to be.

😂 that a--hole was useless anyway. 30 + years without a layoff and then he gets elected, and look what happens on his watch. Good riddance.

It's pretty bad when the union p president in Clifton walks off the job.

Meanwhile the folks at the HTC are heading to happy hour and golf outings with their buddies. Just get out of there. Go be happy!

Usually, the engineering people that are hungry for a charge number will just wander into the BTR and make a " house call" with one of the assembly technicians who is working on a program and chit chat with them for a little while so they can bang the charge number. It's pretty bad, when there aren't enough busy technicians to siphon some charge time from. But, with so much oversight, it's not like the old days in Clifton when an engineer could charge $700 hours for a process book that was actually written by a technician ghost writer and plagiarized,
( copied and pasted )
From the technician's notes into the engineers process book.
Those were the days.

A few key people did leave in the last couple of months perhaps enough of them have left to hold off on any layoffs until april.

@dh perhaps the layoffs are only delayed: "L3Harris is looking for some quick Pentagon program decisions once the government shutdown ends, with CEO Christopher Kubasik projecting an end to the current situation in November."

How are there this many engineers sitting on IDL without a cut? I wouldn’t be so sure yet.
