All the 40+ middle managers survived while most L2s and some L4s in my department got the axe. How did your department fair?

40+ is an age protected class. Theres often a mathematical balance to finalizing a group in layoffs.

@a3 sounds like SVPs and up made the decisions for their areas.
Our area was mostly L5/L6 IC's. Kicker is they are now adding another layer with new L8 Sr Directors. How TF are people getting promos rn?!?!?
this was the opposite in my area, all L6+, mostly 7 and 8
It’s sad that the people who actually did the grunt work got axed why the uptalk word salad Annie’s and Alan’s were spared.
@a2 Looks like the lower level people were fed to the wolves in order to save all the $150,000+ salaries. I strongly suspect WHO was laid off was curated within the department itself.
Same here. Not sure how that streamlined decisions or whatever-it just makes our jobs harder.
