Full disclosure I’m still here at CVX but I have been on the job search, aggressively i might add, since January. It will be nearly a year soon. Still not 1 offer or even a single final round. Any SWE type people find anything recently? I genuinely don’t know WTH is going on nor what to do anymore.. I have an Ivy League EE degree, 6 YOE, impressive GitHub, i can shoot the sh-t w people, etc…. Plz someone give me hope. I’ve even looked at technical sales or consulting roles and there’s no bites. I’ve expanded my geographies to legitimately every U.S. state and even some European metros. Ive made it to 2nd or 3rd rounds only to be ghosted, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Not a single final round… Doesn’t matter if i had a referral and great convos with the teams. D-mbfounded. I don’t understand. Is it just over for me? Like WTH happened? Anyone else in the same boat ?? I’m losing it yall.

Do some mock interviews - it looks like the issue is your performance at later stages.
Use your network for referrals too. Disagree with the other comment - chevron pay is peanuts in the bay, and "meh" in Houston for your background. Stick it out and you'll get a much better opportunity.
@OP I know others with even more experience who are having a tough time finding a position that has similar salary. It may be that companies are lowballing because they know it’s a tough job market. The jobs will come. You only need one good fit. In the meantime you’re employed with salary. Take advantage of training offered while you’re here. I took a lots of classes that are free to us. Use this time to up your skill so you can qualify for more positions. I do see people finding jobs but it’s taking them awhile too. Good luck! Hopefully your next post will be that you found something and are moving to something better.
