Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

I'm conflicted on how to react

I have some partners asking to cancel meetings this week given today's new while some are actively asking for deliverables. I don't know how to react. While I would love to cancel meetings I'm worried what the other partners asking for deliverables might think..

@bv This is the mentality at TGT tbh. They feel like the world revolves around them and think their sh-t doesn't stink

It's why nothing gets done at TGT.

@ca What a pathetic and completely female response.

Do. Your. Job.

TGT needs to stop acting like their the top dog retailer and that they can just blow off and bully VENDORS like they have in the past. TGT is getting deprioritized and is no longer the destination discovery it once was.

Big problem with many TGT employees is they've only worked at TGT. Need to figure out how the real world works

Let your energy drive you. Do what you feel will help you adjust to the new normal - on your own timeline. Anyone expecting deliveries immediately is insensitive to what has happened. Post layoffs is a completely new environment and set of priorities and commitments.

So your employer is letting people go en masse and your first thought is how to not do your job?

People need time to process. Anyone acting like it’s business as usual needs to get a clue.

They want to cancel the meetings because they're afraid you and your team not ready for them, and need time to figure things out. Think of it like your family member died, and everyone is still in shock. They're basically being kind. If you think you can still pull off the meeting, do it. If you think next week or even two would be better for everyone to re-adjust, do that.

The ones asking for deliverables are all panicked they're not going to get it, because of the chaos.

If you think you can still follow your normal schedule, re-assure them that everything is normal.

If you need to adjust timelines because of people gone, adjust them. If you don't know yet, tell them you're in the process of figuring things out, but will get back to them soon.

Who cares what they think. We all need time to process these things. You and your team can take yours.

Choose people over work. That’s the only way things get better.
