Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Leave for absence (unpaid)

I’m thinking about requesting it in the near future to take care of my family. Would it be possible to request it for a period of around 6–12 months? Is there any risk that I wouldn’t be allowed to return afterward? Has anyone, or one of your colleagues, taken it before and returned successfully?

If you are on unpaid LOA during a layoff event and you are left standing, you will not be eligible for severance.

Hopefully we don’t have another one in the next 12-18 months, but something to consider.

It depends. Are you an American, or are you an employee in a country that actually protects its workers’ rights? If you’re the former, prepare to be scre*ed.

@a1 I know someone who was laid off while on medical leave. You are absolutely correct about how this company operates

I know ppl who took family or medical leave for a few weeks and were let go immediately after. It’s a dirty game CVX plays.
