Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

3 things to do as a CEO?

If you were to be in Fiddelke's shoes, what would be 3 things you'd do right now?
I'll go first:

  • rebuild trust and do it fast (comms, plans, dont let people find stuff from the media)
  • fix culture before fixing cost (give power 2 remaining teams & simplify... less layers)
  • protect the brand’s core (keep design/merch/stores connected) & dont outsource

@OP I've never felt more like a cog in the machine than working for Target. The C-suite leaders project themselves as celebrities with their webinars and music intros, but they never talk about anything substantial.

Meanwhile, I have never properly spoken to anyone in my chain above my immediate manager. I am pretty sure they have no idea what I am doing.

So, if there is just one thing I would like to see, it is a more inclusive, thriving culture. If you walk around TNC these days, it is like a ghost town, and everyone looks miserable. A lot of employees seem checked out. It's just plain bad.

1). Get rid of the poorest performing executives and officers. Whoever the dead weight is, get them out.
2). Invest in the culture at all
cost - creating opportunities for growth, pay, trust of leadership, give people a legit reason to want to work here
3). Gut the vast majority of the India office. Bring as many jobs home to the United States as possible.
