Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

If you survive…

Just curious here. If you do end up surviving Tuesday, are you seriously considering leaving Target once you have something lined up? I have read several articles that companies usually see large resignations after a mass layoff.

If I somehow survive layoffs, I'm still looking for a new job elsewhere. Target has stretched all my fellow team members too thin as it is. 1800 jobs cut will only make that abundantly worse.

I love my boss, team, and the work but I’m so done with leadership and dealing with this uncertainly. I was pi---d about the DEI announcement and our handling of Pride merch. Raises and bonuses have not been great either. Problem is, I don’t want to work at a lot of local companies and everyone is demanding return to office. 2-3 days in is better than 4. Medtronic requires 4, US Bank requires 3 without exception. I’d rather cut my arm off than work for any pharmacy benefit manager or anything to do with Big Pharma. General Mill and Cargill would be a horrific commute for me. I despise Wells Fargo. CHS sounds good but they are going to be in trouble soon. Best Buy is worse off than we are. Idk, I guess we’ll see what comes up. If I make it, I will still be looking around and getting more prepared.

If I survive this cleanup, will try to stay until I collect my bonus next year. Or perhaps if I get a high paying job that offsets this amount :)

I was already planning on leaving due to the money situation and due to the two day RTO mandate. This layoff now just makes me feel very insecure in my position especially with news of another layoff coming up in a couple months.

I’ve completely lost trust in leadership after how this was handled. Making us wait five days when they already know the outcome is insensitive and just feels cruel. It’s hard to feel safe or valued after this. I’ll def be looking into other options.

If I get any indication of remote RTO, absolutely. Never giving up working in pajamas.

not many will resign voluntarily without another job in hand. The economy is not doing well. TACO thinks he's fooling everyone with the fake data reports for unemployment, cpi, etc.

Yes. I survived the 2015 layoffs. If I survive this one, I’m going to look externally for something new.

Leaving ASAP. I was working on my resume before this was announced. Maybe if they had brought in an outsider CEO things would be different, but I’m just not seeing how a finance insider is going to make my experience better.

It’s tempting, but the job market for software engineers in the Twin Cities is not good at the moment.

100% yes. This company is clearly struggling, and just because you survive one round doesn’t mean your job is safe. I have a few interviews lined up this week regardless, and I’m taking one if offered. I highly recommend everyone do your best to find a more stable position.

Without hesitation. Target has lost its soul.
