Or are we still in rumorland? I’ve been hearing similar things, but nothing certain.
15% RIF across the board, notice on Nov 20, off payroll Dec 19 is what we were told.

Yes, I have also heard 11/20, but last day on payroll at 12/20. If last day is in fact 12/19, we may all be in jeopardy for receiving STI. This Shulman has a reputation of being pretty ruthless with cuts, but that would be a whole other level of bad. Especially with only giving 30 days to be off payroll.
Yes. I heard from insiders that 15% layoffs are coming
@16b yes
I’m a customer experience champion ll rep. Are we being affected by this?
30 years in. Thanksgiving week notice. Off payroll by Dec 19th.
@OP union jobs or non-union jobs? Any buyouts?
Told by??
Fact: Verizon CEO sent an internal email today stating they would be taking 'bold' actions to make the company 'leaner', implying layoffs are coming. Rumor: I'm hearing 15% of employees in bands 3-7 will be impacted.
@d1 TWC does have a warn list of 60days
@af wanna bet ?
•••
October 30 management submits who they are RIFing November 20 those affected get notified
@fp After Q1 there will be another round to eliminate redundancies all while Frontier is going on.
You are close, but you have the percentages wrong. This is gonna hurt. It will 20% that is kept. 80% are being let go. Notices will be given on 11/27 and off the books by 12/25.
Hang in there everyone!
@fb what group
It is real, 20% across most organizations will be out by end of year. Major org changes happening as well.
@OP complete rubbish!
If it were to occur, I would expect it to happen Oct 30. 2025. My Director has basically stated we had to provide the list/rankings of the top performers and the low performers on 10/22.
She later stated it was not a good meeting and "confirmed" large impact and asked me to keep it close to my chest since we have team members OOO for the week (meaning next week).
The date we have been hearing is Oct 30th, they cancelled Chilli cook off & Halloween costume contests in RM abruptly which was due next Thu
Exactly — and that’s why a 15–20% cut by year-end isn’t feasible. Verizon never does mass terminations all at once; it’s always structured to stay under WARN thresholds. They spread reductions across quarters, business units, and cost centers to manage accruals and avoid triggering disclosure. It’s a playbook that goes back to the GTE/Bell Atlantic era — only now it’s executed with tighter financial timing and more polished optics. The end result is the same: major headcount reduction without public accountability.
@ag PFFFT VZ terminates thousands of jobs each year and never a WARN other than when an entire center is involved. Been this way since GTE / BA days.
@bc what group
It coming next Friday. It’s bad. 20% in total. Know for sure, one team is 50%. This is going to be destruction. And I have not doubt the “senior” leadership will be untouched, have they ever been impacted??? It’s their game and rules. I’ve been told I could be impacted by my boss.
I am not a troll. I am sharing real news.
@b3
correct, I was involved in one in NJ when the entire group was moved to another state in 2005. I was able to get a new job at HQ but still have the layoff notice that was sent to me
@af vz usually gets away with not filing WARN, because it is legally 100s of sub companies, unless it is large enough in that 1 sub company which is per state per business type.
@av, may be it is planned for CEO transition 2 month ago
BOD add a new board member from sugar drink company on Aug 25
now, she is filling the seat vacated from Dan S.
@ag Agreed, but then again, I expected an eventual CEO transition to be a months-long process rather than a sudden event. 😏
@ae
Agreed!
A 15–20% workforce reduction at Verizon would be a complex, months-long process rather than a sudden event. With nearly 100,000 employees, cuts of that scale would unfold gradually over six to twelve months, beginning with internal restructuring in non-union divisions and extending to retail, network, and shared-service roles. Such a move would generate multiple public markers — WARN notices across several states, SEC filings detailing billions in severance costs, and a cost-reduction narrative in investor communications. Until those indicators appear, large-scale reductions remain a theoretical scenario rather than an active program.
And yo, they definitely aren't gonna do it the week before Black Friday and cause chaos during the busiest time.
Nah, don’t fall for it. The same trolls who swore yesterday was the big day are just shifting the goalposts again.
Here’s the deal: WARN notices have to go out 60 days before someone’s officially off the books. That means anyone being cut would’ve had to be told by end of October, tops. And for what it’s worth—been here 18 years—it’s always gone down the Thursday before the last October paycheck. (Yep, that would’ve been yesterday.)
Check the history on this page if you want receipts. Every time, it’s the same cycle—people stirring panic in March and October, not November or July. Quick Google search backs that up, too.
So yeah, odds of the pattern magically breaking now, or some insider risking their job to spill details here? Pretty close to zero.
@OP so if they aren’t giving full 60 days on books doesn’t that mean they need to file WARN notices?
@a7 official communication that they are doing layoffs that day? See you impacted or do you need to RIG people that report to you?
Executive meetings up in Wayne next week to NNJ areas to go over cuts
@a3 not a rumor, I got official communication from my boss on Wednesday
It feels like everyone is coming to THIS site, getting details, sharing with peers, whom then confirm by either coming here and reading, or hearing from a peer that came here....
So here is MY rumor....I hear that Donald Trump and Jesus are plotting with the board to postpone layoffs until the second coming....
