Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Anxious

This is my first time going through a potential layoff, and I’m really struggling with the uncertainty. Ever since we heard the news , I’ve been anxious nonstop — it’s hard to , join calls, or think about much else.

How are you coping or distracting yourself ?

Feeling for my former Target family right now. As someone who experienced the RIF in 2015, I know it’s scary and hard to focus when the organization has indicated cuts. We checked this site by the hour to see if anyone knew what was coming. It’s likely you’ll know someone impacted and it’s awful.

The silver lining I saw in 2015 is many of those impacted were embraced by the industry; offers to connect and network; socialize their resume and help them land something great in the ‘after.’ Many of those team members returned to Target in the years following because they had advocates still in place internally. If you are impacted, know your network is invaluable and if you aren’t impacted be that support system for those that are.
The best we can do is show up for one another.

Please be kind to yourself. Try to be your friends and family and not on screens. Get a walk or workout in if you can. It's a very nice day out today - try to enjoy some of it.

Please take comfort in this - there is nothing you can do to affect the outcome. They've already made the decisions they needed to. No worry will change anything. All you can do it control how you receive the information and react to the plans. I'm hopeful you get what you want.

I second that. I definitely find myself spiraling a little bit. My theory is that this is going to feel like one of the longest weekends of my life so I plan on doing whatever I can to distract myself - go hiking, see friends, go thrifting, grab a drink, do some yardwork, make chili etc. Just fill my time up as much as I can so I'm not sitting and waiting for Tuesday, and hopefully it'll feel like a long weekend in a good way.

You have about a 90% chance of not losing your job. Those anxious are L6 or above, or TI is currently doing part of your work or your work can be consolidated.
