Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Folks in transition

I hear hints maybe some people that are in transition are not identifying themselves. I can understand there are business reasons both for and against this. But I also think maybe there is some fear, so it could be misunderstanding. Are there people who were in scope and already landed roles in the new organization, but will still transition out in 2026?

@fm very few…and those aren’t that hard to sort out either. Sometimes I wonder about the people that work here.

Not everyone participated in the selection events. Some of us were in closed roles therefore not part of the announcements.

It’s not that hard to sort out. If they are still around and their name wasn’t listed in the selection announcements…then they are in transition.

I am a former Hess employee who is in a transitional role until December 2025. I signed an NDA. Many of us landed jobs with competitors (the market is MUCH more favorable than perceived). Yes, we are under an NDA but we cannot unsee the information presented at Lease Sale discussions, etc. Also, transitional people are stuck in the Hess Tower as unsupervised kids with no actual assignment or work while all the managers and the few full timers moved to CVX Towers. It's all very odd but we are getting paid. This is the weirdest layoff I've witnessed in my two and a half decades in industry.

No NDAs that I've heard of either. Some current roles have absorbed work from those who were laid off in 2020 where no replacements were hired. The work of 3 people in 2020, placed into 1 person, and now that 1 person is left standing, so now that work of 3 is being shoved onto the plate of someone who will now do the work of 4. It's a nightmare transition and the effects are front and center.

The people that I know that are in transition are not under any NDAs. Some people will be leaving in December, some in March, and finally, the rest are gone in July.

@ac I am of course not asking anyone to identify themselves. I just want to understand if Chevron maybe has some non disclosure agreements with some people — those who were in scope and already got new roles — that prevent them from saying they will leave next year. My understanding is that everyone who landed a role is not planning to transition out in 2026. This information helps set expectations and is not unprofessional.

Why does a person in a transitional assignment need to identify themselves? If they EOI’d with transition it is bitter sweet. If they were left standing and were allowed to do transition work it is bitter sweet. I suspect anyone not talking about it is trying to be professional in their final days at Chevron. It’s a sad situation all around.
