Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Effort

If you're still giving 100% to Chevron, it's time to ask yourself: why?

Show yourself some respect and match their effort—which is basically zero. Some will say, “But I have a strong work ethic.” That’s admirable, but let’s be real: they don’t care about you.

Would a company that cares:

Slash mental health coverage during a mental health crisis?

Lie to its employees about the future?

Protect executive perks while laying off the people who actually do the work?

Call itself a “proud American company” while offshoring thousands of jobs to India?

No? Then stop pretending they deserve your loyalty. I’m on minimum viable effort until this so-called “leadership” is gone. They’ve earned nothing more.

Haven't seen a post getting as many downvotes as this in a while. Now I am beginning to wonder if there is a Downvoting Unit nestled in Engine or did CVX gotten a bot setup to downvote posts that hit a raw nerve.

@OP anyone in a centralized job is in a transitional role they just haven’t told you yet. Peoples jobs were lost in Colorado or California to be done out of Houston . Next step all those will go to India as soon as engine gets running . If you do a good job proving you can run Calif or Colorado from Houston you’re proving it can be done from India .

Exactly. I’m still here but do not care to give it my all. In this layoff I seen many really good people let go and many brownnoses that barely know how to do anything stay. That’s why I don’t care to work hard anymore. For what ? Next reorg in 18 months they’re probably letting me go to keep someone’s spouse or hand my job to someone India.

@bd Absolutely! Chevron has reduced itself to nothing more than a job-hopping company. They have shown their cards and it is well known that they will can your a$$ before your full retirement. Don’t fall for it. Use them to get work experience and move on to a company that respects and values its employees. Do not work at Chevron beyond the age of 40. They will ring you out and then leave you hanging to dry as soon as you are what they consider too old and too expensive. Do not fall for ANY lies from anyone at this company. They are deceitful liars, and they have shown what they are capable of with the recent layoffs. They have shown no respect to people who gave their entire youth and working lives to the company. Big mistake!

I will say that redeployment and the severance is a nice benefit, as I have friends who have been laid off from other companies and end up with very little. As I read all of the comments on this site, I’m relieved that I went with my gut and EOI’d. Definitely not the company I used to be so proud to work for.
Hopefully they will stop using the catch phrase Human Energy…that’s just laughable.

@ae I disagree with that statement. May have been true once upon a time, but with benefits eroding through ever finer print, they are no longer competitive. Don't get me wrong, they ARE WORLD CLASS BENEFITS, just third world class. Befitting of the new employee base. Face it, layoffs are expensive. This management regime has decided that cutting benefits going forward is more cost effective than laying off employees. Reduce benefits and the workforce will leave to get better benefits elsewhere without the added costs of a severance package. It is truly a shame what they have done to a once proud company.

Chevron still has one of the better benefits with retirement and pension compared to competitors. Which one has a better one in the industry
