What is the long-term goal of the retitling post restructure exercise?

My guess: It will be used as a way to delevel people who don’t meet the new job architecture skillset requirements, with a goal to push them out of the company.

Everything being done either has some sort of mega cost savings that doesn't make sense now , but will in the future or makes it easy to get bought out or merged and is an easy way to cut full roles once that merger happens without needing to go throught perfomance reviews to do so

To align jobs with long term future AI friendly title designations. AI is expected to replace all jobs with repetitive and data-driven tasks, due to its ability to automate routine functions.

In midstream, some senior tank project managers—especially one in Billings—who appears to have little understanding of what is actually going on yet still collect big fat paycheck every month. It's obvious that salaries in these roles are significantly inflated relative to the value being delivered.

@OP See this change for what it is ... promotions cost money so now there won't be any openings unless someone retires, dies, goes out on sick leave, quits or gets fired. "Own your career"? More like, run the org chart numbers and create a death pool of next-level SGL roles ... we should put it on MyRoute. Let everyone bet on which jobs will come open. Hunger Games P66-style!!! Would be the best United Way fund-squeezer ever!!!

The goal is to pi-s people off so they quit, reducing headcount without having to pay severance. Which is of course a terrible idea. People who self select are people who can get a job elsewhere. You end up with a sub-standard workforce when you try and reduce headcount this way.

Just fire people if you want to reduce headcount cowards.
