Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

My manager has 32 direct reports. I am in EMEA.

This is not normal and it's so messed up. Dell EMEA is just CRAZY!

Totally believe it and it makes your manager basically an HR manager. Which is not what they wanted to be. I’m sure.

Contractors are not considered "headcount" for most purposes

are a lot of them based in Cairo? Maybe its a temp move until their accounts are migrated over to the crowd they were outsourced to?

If you aren't getting much direction from your Manager in the first place, these numbers may be fine. They may get AI to score you on your deliverables as opposed to talking to your Manager. Most Tech companies are trying to get rid of people.

In services a lot of the reports appear to be contractors in workday. I don’t know if those folk are considered “head count”

A manager near my role has 52. Something tells me some of those people won’t be around very long.
