Any current SWE's having any luck finding other opportunities outside this place? I know this is a layoff board but with how my department is going, me quitting this place is looking more and more likely each day. The job market isn't too great which isn't fun, but morale is low with my current department and leadership here loves to act like everything is fine when it really is not. More work than ever and less competent employees than ever. Constantly having to take over work from offshore since they cannot complete simple tasks. Is there a light for the good workers at the end of the tunnel?

What's an SWE?
@a2 this brought a smile to my face
Market isn’t great now given every company thinks they will replace devs with AI, plus uncertainty in economy. Best thing is to work your network and get resume in front of hiring manager rather than them wading thru 5000 online applications. Also if you do not require visa sponsorship you are at a serious advantage given the uncertainty created with h1b. No company wants to sponsor or deal with any visa issue at all now so that’s a plus. Do the basics at your job, crush some courses on the side in a field you are weak at. But yes the company will get worse as more offshore with no context take on jobs and you will pull their weight.
Yes. Retirement is the light at the end of the tunnel. Nothing is easy in this. Industry even for excellent workers.
