Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

FROM ALL THE MOMS!

You want to know why so many working moms are drowning? Because we live in a world that says “take care of your babies first”… but also, “make sure you’re bringing home a paycheck”. So we get up, clock in, and make sure our kids have somewhere safe to go while we work. But let me tell you something, this world wasn’t built for us. Work is 8-5, but school runs 7:45-2:45. The pediatrician closes at 4. The dentist isn’t open on weekends. Bedtime is at 8, but practice doesn’t end until 7. By the time dinner is made, the house is clean, homework is checked, and a dozen other things no one even notices are done. Then it hits, there was barely anytime with the kids today. So when you ask the mom at work how she’s doing and she says “I’m fine” just know, she’s probably not. She’s exhausted, stretched too thin, and missing the people she’s working so hard for.

SO FU-K YOU & ALL THE MEN THAT THINK WE ARE SKATING BY!!!

We get paid less than you!
We do more than you every single day!

Flextime was the only way we could slightly achieve it all.

The site is heavy on belly aching, whining about policy changes (think RTO), red pill ideology, and leadership bashing. There's a small handful of stiff neck regular 'contributors' who flood the forum with personal grievances.
It is rare that a post like this ever shows up, unfortunately!

Yeah they deleted my post, it was sarcastic sure but it didn't contain any vulgarity or incendiary language. Really interesting to observe what is allowed to be said and what isn't. This will be my last time visiting this site.

Eliminate "Sacred Cattle" at at&t. Quit treating Women differently than Men. It's wrong and decisive. Stop it now.

Ladies, you are in a unique position to put pressure on the company from both sides of the political aisle. The feminists on one side and the family-firsters on the other. The press and the politicians will listen to you, and the C-suite is scared of bad PR and regulation. Organize and get active.

Noticed several interesting post taken down. Like the ones about maternity leave in other countries.
Do you think there are any female moderators on this forum? Hmm. I bet not!

5x8 RTO is now forced on us by Boomer men. Don’t pretend to support women while at the same time offering zero flexibility with day to day working hours.

How would that work out if you were a single parent?

#1- I haven’t seen a different TSR for men and women.

#2- Pretty s-xist to assume just the women take care of the kids.

#3- You probably wouldn’t have had to work a full time job if you didn’t CHOOSE to have children.

The whole wage disparity thing has been debunked for years. But if we wish to go there, women in STEM fields where I live make more than their male counterparts. And while we're at it. I did the get the kids on the bus and get the kids off the bus, the appointments, etc... You obviously have poor taste in men. But how is Chad doing?

Women: Don't get married. Don't have babies. Take care of yourselves. Make and save your own money so you don't have to become a servant. That should take of the dilemma!

“There is more: all three assumed that 1) a woman should be married 2) should be at home cooking, cleaning and taking care of kids, parents, grandparents”

How it “should” be won’t be how it “is”.

I think people in this country are clearly brainwashed into not understanding how working women, particularly those with children, are shamefully mistreated. One only need look at how other countries treat families.
Denmark allots 4 weeks PRE Delivery of time off for women. They also receive 41 weeks of PAID leave POST delivery or maternity leave. Plus fathers are also ENTITLED to 24 weeks of paid paternity leave.
Affording employees time to care for themselves and their families goes a long way in improving morale as well as improving physical and mental health of employees.
These are the issues people in this country should be talking about and fighting for. Instead, corporations and specifically governments have you pointing fingers at your fellow citizens.

This occurs when people live above their means. I agree childcare should be at the top of the list. If 2 jobs are required to support your lifestyle, there are two possible ways to solve this:
Have 2 jobs, 1 fulltime job and 1 parttime job. (it doesn't matter who has the fulltime, could be husband or wife) or...
Start a home based business that allows you to be at home with the kids and attend to any of their needs.
We were single income until the kids started school, then my wife worked parttime for 5 years before starting her own business. My wife still has her own business while I work at AT&T for the benefits. I also work seasonal parttime jobs, and bought a UPS store franschise that I oversee. My kids are in college now.

@a6 there are many managers exactly like that in att. I have had a few. There is more: all three assumed that 1) a woman should be married 2) should be at home cooking, cleaning and taking care of kids, parents, grandparents 3) in a working environment, no chance of an interesting project (just admin type ones, regardless of degrees, skills and work ethics), no chance of a raise, or promotion (because that’s for husbands).
Yeah I know it is a different and international culture running already certain orgs here but nevertheless a discriminatory one. By now is too late to change.

RTO proves Stinky hates women. Take it up with him and the rest of the “leadership” who dont care about your needs.

As a man, I tend to agree with the post.
Most women are the organizers of the household. The schedule and take kids to the medical appointments, engage in school fundraiser activities, clean the house and generally keep everything running.
At ATT, my best bosses have been women. The reason is because women want to get things done without all the ego bs men bring to the table.
It’s not about politics, it’s about responsibilities. Women organize their responsibilities much better than men

Tell your hubby to pick up the slack... you aren't the only one responsible for child care.

Be happy t gave you extra time to do some of your childcare, cause they f'ked others out of vacation time to give it to you.

And on top of that, my boss is an Indian who got into USA with F1 student visa, got his H1B work visa, and his Green Card, and now is my teams manager. He doesn't trust us, hides any major announcements from us, wants to have lunch with us so we can share our personal life with him, want a 1-1 weekly so he hopes we snitch on other team mates, and doesn't help us make out work easier but defends those in India who have to help us but aren't continuously saying we don't know what amount of pressure the team in India has and therefore we should figure things ourself when we are stuck. He is so insecure like most men.
