Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Burnout isn’t a badge of honor

Younger folks, seriously, don’t fall into the trap of doing two people’s jobs because the company refuses to hire enough staff. Work at your normal pace, take your breaks, and use your time off. If they keep cutting people, they’ll eventually realize they have no one left to fire.

Agree 100% BNYM executives have stood firm for over a decade now on their commitment to continuously layoff of employees. If the work gets done with less staff, they have no incentive to fill the positions. You look out for You, because BNYM is not.

If you ever think your hard work and dedication is appreciated, ask for a raise or counter a promotional salary increase (if you get one) and listen to what they have to say to you about that

i've had two previous managers that lived and breathed BNY. They were constantly reading emails all hours of the night, and working on weekends. Guess what? They both got laid off. It's not worth it!

@cg exactly, I don’t mind putting in the extra hrs when I am pulling millions a year, same advice not true for someone who’s junior ,getting paid peanuts and has other hobbies outside of work and doesn’t care…to each their own motivation and goals..

BNY leaders tout not sleeping for whole week, getting up in the middle of the night and thinking about their projects and the progress, waking up at 4 am and getting on work calls, sleeping in their home offices, and on and on.
If I ever work this much, I would have to retire and become a monk.

A big problem here is that we have systems and vendor packages - especially FIS- that are total error pits. You cannot fix stuff manually without permits from your manager - to exclude from stats that management keeps- and then you are also on calls 5 hours a day talking about the same problems continuously. This company is a loser that drags you down.

Younger people don't even do their work. Sorry boomer, only the boomer generation who are at work six in the morning who take others work not millennials or Gen Z .. they don't even want to work. they can live off their parents' wealth

Exactly right. They leave you out to dry with the clients and rely on you working 24/7 to get the job down. Don't do it. It's not only not good for your on health and longevity, it hurts everyone else who wants to have a normal life. Don't ki-l yourself to make the C suite crowd even richer. They are truly immoral despicable people.
