Dictatorship in rise- Juan Andrade

"I dont need an executive council" screams arrogance, maybe he can make all the decisions himself but it usually ends in disaster. Every smart leader needs smart people around them.

Maybe he had to wait to change the name until Amala was gone since she was such a poor excuse for a leader.

Well he is the CEO, so ultimately the buck stops with him, and if those decisions are bad and the company falters, then the BOD will remove him.

A CEO is supposed to be a dictator. That's the job. Get over it. Yes, they would do well to consider good advice but at the end of the day it comes down to one man.

If you don't like working for a dictatorship go join a furry drum circle in Portland.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but so far I'm liking what Juan's doing, especially kicking out some of the terrible EVPs we had like Amala.

Time will tell what his "legacy" is going to be, but everything I've seen so far has been welcomed and a nice change from Wayne.

Juan's point is that he doesn't need a "council" to advise him. Wayne's leadership style was top-down, where he called all the shots. Wayne's approach with his "executive council" was to have his EVPs act as advisors so he could make the decisions then push the blame down to them if/when things didn't work out.

Juan was saying he needs his leaders to lead their departments. He's delegating leadership to his EVPs — the exact opposite of arrogance or "dictatorship."

At least that's my interpretation. Time will tell. Juan is only a few months into the job, so I may be totally wrong.

@ab that HR executive is now a CEO of some company. I recall her saying USAA was going to be her last company before she retires! Some truth

The challenge is that the USAA Executive Council of the past has been just awful. That HR Executive that Wayne Peacock brought in was a disaster. She's just one of many examples.
