Promotion earlier in 2022 to affect year end merit and bonus?

If you were promoted earlier in 2022, will they use that as an excuse to reduce your year end merit increase % and bonus amount?

For realz, they'll absolutely rate you lower because they say they expect more after a promotion. Whether that'll translate to a lower bonus is unknown.

In my experience, Yes. However, I am sure it really depends your manager or their manager.

I think the only way that would happen is if you were close to the bottom of the pay scale, and they are trying to bring you closer to the mid. If you are already close to the mid, then that affects your merit.

Bonus is driven by performance, so the promotion in and of itself wouldn't cause the bonus to be reduced.

Bonus will probably be impacted but I wouldnt think merit would.

Last year I changed jobs mid year that included a 15% raise and still got 4% merit at end of year.

If you got a pay bump, then yes. Good chance they take that into account. That way they can bump up someone else

Yes, they do that. They did it to me. Just another way to Nickel and dime.

It depends on when the promotion happened, but typically yes. If you were promoted, you won't receive a merit increase.
