Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Eye Infection

Signed up for COBRA today, after Oracle delayed for too long sending the details on that. They said technically I don't have insurance until the provider is notified that I have signed up, and that can take up to a week (retroactively I am covered). So don't delay on COBRA to avoid having to tell your story to your doc and the billing dept.
Also, seems there is lots of action in the COBRA company and they are very, very busy. Good thing the government is shut down so the unemployment data is on hold while the captains of industry rake in their hundreds of billions.

Once UHC shows your coverage being re-upped, just chat with an agent for any claims that hit during that window. I had $20K in denied claims and the chat agent knocked it out in about ten minutes. The only hitch I had was calling the pharmacy asking them to re-submit claims so I could pick them up without paying full retail (which BTW, UHC/Optum won't reimburse you for because of their low contract prices).

So stupid that they don't let you enroll BEFORE the legacy coverage ends - it creates so much work for everyone.

Marketplace plans in CA aren't cheap either. Besides if one already met the yearly deductible and out of pocket limit it makes sense to stay in COBRA at least for the remaining of the year.

Isn't COBRA like 3-4x what you pay through the marketplace? I get you keep all your docs....but it was a ton of money compared to ther marketplace plans.
